Zero to hero: the men who'd own a Grand Slam in a best-of-three world — but ended their careers with none.

Every name here lost a major final from a winning position — two sets to love, or two sets to one — and then watched it slip away across the back half of a best-of-five marathon. Stop the match at three sets and the trophy is theirs. In reality, not one of them ever lifted a major.
